Sister Ann Pressler, SC, 87, formerly Sister Marita Cordis, a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died Sunday, March 7, 2021 at Morristown Memorial Hospital, Morristown, NJ.
Sister Ann was born in Highland Park, New Jersey, the daughter of Chester and Anna Veronica (Keller) Pressler. She entered the Sisters of Charity on March 6, 1953 and was a member for 68 years.
Sister Ann graduated from Saint Elizabeth University (formerly the College of Saint Elizabeth), Convent Station, New Jersey with a B.A. degree in Social Studies and from Jersey City State College, Jersey City, NJ and an M.A. degree in Elementary Education. Sister Ann loved teaching and the company of her students. As an Educator in New Jersey, Sister Ann served as a teacher at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, Tenafly; St. Michael School, Jersey City; Our Lady of Grace School, Hoboken; Sacred Heart School, New Brunswick; and St. Patrick School, Elizabeth. Since the early 1970s, she spent her remaining teaching years at Bragaw Avenue School in Newark.
In her retirement years, she volunteered at Josephine's Place in Elizabeth, at The Villa at Florham Park, and with her parish catechetical program. Sister Ann was a gifted artist who shared her talents in paintings.
She is survived by the Sisters of Charity; her sister, Elaine Pressler and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two brothers and a sister.
