It was the Monte Cristo sandwich that made me do a Google search for Dorothy 45 years after I last saw her. She and I worked together at my very first post college job in the College Relations office at the then College of St. Elizabeth. Dorothy took a shy 20-year-old under her wing, as I learned to navigate the world of work. We often lunched together and I thought she was so worldly, ordering wine at lunch and the aforementioned Monte Cristo, which I had never tasted before I met her. We talked about all kinds of things and she really helped me navigate my first real job. I was living 5 hours away from home and she became a sort of big-sister/mother figure for me. Although we lost touch after I changed jobs and moved away, I never forgot her, her kindness, and her appreciation for life. I am happy to see she had a long…and I imagine full…life, and am sorry to learn so belatedly of her passing. My prayers and condolences are with her and her family.

When I entered the College of St. Elizabeth's adult degree program many years ago, Dorothy Donahue was always there to help me and others with any questions we had. She helped us adjust to this life changing event. She was always kind and encouraging, helping us all the way to our end game, graduation.
Our paths would cross again when I became an employee of the college in 1998. Again, Dorothy was always there with a smile and the willingness to help. I have such fond memories of my time spent with her.
My condolences to her family, especially Sr. Gabe.
Sincerely,
Lucille Andaloro
