Obituary of DONNA GINSBURG
Please share a memory of DONNA to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Donna Victorine Ginsburg, 77, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, August 26, 2021 with family by her side.
Born in Englewood, New Jersey, Donna was raised in Teaneck and lived briefly in Ridgefield Park before moving with her husband to the Pine Brook section of Montville in 1976.
She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1965 and was a beloved teacher and colleague in the Teaneck Public School system for more than 30 years. She was an observant, creative, and caring innovator in the classroom and impacted hundreds of students who continued to be in contact with her, sharing their successes through adulthood. A sought-after teacher among parents and students, she taught kindergarten at the Lowell, Washington Irving, Longfellow and Bryant Schools.
Donna was an active and supportive member of the Teaneck Teachers Association. She made many retirement celebrations memorable by performing her original parodies of popular songs which she tailored to honor her many close colleagues.
Donna was preceded in death by the love of her life, her adoring husband of 45 years, George S. Ginsburg. George and Donna met at a Jewish singles dance and married in 1972. Both George and Donna were teachers. Between them they taught for over six decades, often teaching children of three generations in one family. While the Ginsburgs never had any children of their own, they inspired a love of learning and a sense of wonder in countless students.
The eldest daughter of the late Charles and Sara Victorine, Donna is survived by her loving sister, Barbara Victorine (Michael); a niece, Nicole (Adam); two nephews, Daniel (Lauren) and Samuel; numerous loving cousins and friends and the newest member of the family, her great-nephew, who she called "Awesome Augie" and with whom she loved to sing songs from her kindergarten classroom. The entire family is grateful for the kindness of her friend Heidi Stroganoff who assisted Donna at home over the past difficult year.
When people think of Donna, they remember a vibrant, fun-loving, kind and compassionate person with an extraordinary sense of humor and a trademark laugh. An avid sports lover and high school majorette, she enjoyed dancing, music, ice skating and skiing. She was a loving wife, sister, aunt, cousin and a deeply caring friend. She was truly one of a kind person who gave her all to everything she did and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to honor the memory of Donna Ginsburg can make donations to the American Cancer Society or the charity of their choice.
