Obituary of ELIZABETH V. GEMIAN

Elizabeth Gemian, 98 (née Frano), of Towaco, NJ passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, September 29, 2021 at Christian Health Center in Wycoff, NJ. She was the daughter of the late Antonio and Anegitia Frano. Born in Rumford, Maine, Mrs. Gemian had lived in Paterson, and west Paterson for 20 years before coming to the Towaco section of Montville Township in 1977. She was the beloved wife of 74 years to Gerald C. Gemian, (age 99) and loving mother of Gary Gemian and his wife Vivian of Lincoln Park, NJ. She is also survived by three cherished granddaughters, Kristen and her husband Steve Zalewski, Kaitlyn and Kara Gemian; and three great- grandchildren, Gaven Gerald, Peter John and Livia Elizabeth. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Elizabeth was the youngest of seven children and the last one to survive. Her brothers and sisters were Michael, Concetta, Flora, Frances, Peter, and Dominick. She deeply missed her family and spoke to them often. Her first job was with NJ Bell Telephone as a switchboard operator, later as a supervisor, then went on to work with Singer Kearfott in Woodland Park, NJ and retired as a Pension Coordinator in 1989. After retirement she remained active by volunteering at the Montville Nutrition programs. She was a member of the Montville Seniors as a corresponding secretary, St. Pius X Rosary Altar Society and also the Red Hat Society. Among her hobbies she enjoyed playing canasta, poker, Mahjongg with her many friends.
