Obituary of SISTER MARGARET KANE

Sister Margaret Kane, a Sister of Charity of St. Elizabeth, died Wednesday afternoon, December 26, 2012 at Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station, NJ at the age of 96. Born in Jersey City, Sister Margaret Kane was the daughter of Patrick and Mary (McShane) Kane. She entered the Sisters of Charity on September 8, 1935 and was a member for 77 years. Sister Margaret Kane graduated from the College of St. Elizabeth, Convent Station, NJ with a B.S. degree in education. She served in the education ministry in New Jersey. She served as a teacher at Sacred Heart School, Bloomfield; Blessed Sacrament School, Roseland; St. Antoninus School, Newark; Immaculate Conception School, Darlington; Our Lady of Sorrows School, South Orange; and St. Michael's School, Newark. She moved to Caritas Community, Jersey City in 2005 and then retired to Saint Anne Villa in Convent Station in 2008 where she resided until her death. She is survived by the Sisters of Charity, her sister, Sister Miriam Patrice Kane, SC; her brother-in-law, James Moran; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that contributions be made to the Sisters of Charity Development Fund, P. O. Box 476, Convent Station, NJ 07961.
