Obituary of SISTER CECILIA MARY GELINAS

Sister Cecilia (Ceil) Mary Gelinas, 99, a Sister of Charity of St. Elizabeth, died suddenly Friday, March 1, 2013 at her home in Madison. Sister Ceil Mary Gelinas was born in Rockland, Massachusetts, the daughter of Omer and Emma (nee Gervais) Gelinas. She entered the Sisters of Charity on March 25, 1934 and was a member for 78 years. She was a graduate of the College of St.Elizabeth in Convent Station, NJ with A B.S. Degree in Education. Sister Ceil Mary served in the education and health care ministries in the State of New Jersey. She was a teacher in Sacred Heart School, Vailsburg; Holy Cross School, Harrison; and Saint Aloysius High School, Jersey City. She did chiropedic work in Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station and opened a shoe department there. She was a podiatrist in St. Anne Villa and a patient visitor. She is survived by the Sisters of Charity and many generations of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Sisters of Charity Development Fund, P.O.
