Obituary of ROY M. MILLER

Roy M. Miller passed away Sunday morning, April 28, 2013 at Roosevelt Hospital in Manhattan following a brief illness. He was 52.
Born in East Orange, he had lived in Irvington and East Hanover before moving to Manhattan, NY in 1976.
A noted Broadway Producer, Mr. Miller produced the Broadway productions of A Christmas Story (2013 Tony nominations for Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical & Best Original Score), West Side Story (2009 Tony nomination for Best Musical Revival and Grammy Award winner for Best Musical Show Album), The Pee-wee Herman Show, Ragtime (2010 Tony nomination for Best Musical Revival), The Drowsy Chaperone (winner of five 2006 Tony Awards and seven Drama Desk Awards including Best Musical), Title Of Show, Mark Twain's Is He Dead?, High Fidelity, I'm Not Rappaport, and the tours of A Chorus Line and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Previously, he had produced at the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, NJ for 14 years. Mr. miller began his career in 1975 at Surflight Theatre and then returned in August 2010 as Producing Artistic Director to help usher them through a Chapter 11 bankruptcy and after 2 years left them in good financial stead.
Survivors include his mother, Helen C. Miller (nee Stanford) of Parsippany; his father, Roy H. Miller of East Hanover;, a brother, Glenn T. Miller of San Diego, CA.; a sister, Anna M. Hand and her husband Matthew of Lake Hopatcong, NJ; his nephew, John Vitcusky and his wife Kristy; and his grand niece, Nora.
