Obituary of MAUREEN MARGARET ALFIERI

Maureen Margaret Alfieri, 63, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Morristown Medical Center surrounded by her family. Born in Newark, Ms. Alfieri was raised in Belleville and had lived in Fairfield before moving to Morristown 34 years ago. She had earned her BA in education from Newark State College in 1972, and her MA in student personnel services from Kean College in 1980. Ms. Alfieri was a guidance counselor and special education teacher with the Essex County Vocational School in West Caldwell for 33 years before retiring. She had also worked with ARC of Essex County for 5 years. She was a member of the Spina Bifida Association. Preceded in death by her parents Dominick and Vincenza (Foggio) Alfieri; she is survived by her loving sister, Donna M. Joyce and her husband Michael of Far Hills; three nephews, Robert, Michael, and Ian Joyce; a niece, Dominique Knaus; and grand-nieces and nephew, Ava, Juliana, Isabella, Cierra, Titus, Addison, Aynslee, and Allister. Funeral services are private. The family will be planning a memorial service to be announced in the near future.
