Sister Jackie Carey was the principal at St. Mary's High School when I graduated in 1977. She demonstrated a great love for education and the students. In the hallway directing traffic or in the general assembly she was a professional always reflecting Christ in her life. Thru the years I would stop by St. Mary's or see her on the street she was always gracious and interested in my life. At Christmas time I would remember her and express appreciation for her many years of service to my St. Mary's and credit her for the door remaining open for so many years. I visited Convent Station to see Sr. Alberta who was also principal at St. Mary's and did visit with Sr. Jackie it was a delight. I am a teacher and academic dean today because of the wonderful charities and Dominicans sisters who shaped my mind and heart. Thank you Sister Jackie for a lifetime investment in other and enjoy your great reward in heaven.

With great sadness I was informed of the death of my former principal Sr. Jackie . Sr. Jackie was more than a teacher , a principal , she was a dear friend to me . She hired me as a new teacher in 1976 at St Mary's and for the next 10 years she encouraged me often , nurtured me and always supported and thanked me . Sometimes more than I earned or deserved .
She was kind , patient and determined , and changed the lives of thousands of children and adults . She always put the students and staff ahead of herself . She help make St Mary's an oasis in the lives of so many people in Jersey city ! She had a great laugh and a wonderful sense of humor ,but could be tough as nails when she had to be .We remained lifelong friends ,especially when I needed a friend.
The world is better place because of her work . So many people's lives were touched by her generosity and her love . I will sorely miss her , but I'm am so blessed to have known her , worked with her and to laugh with her ! Congratulations to a life well done Sr Jackie you will be missed by all !
YOU WERE AN ANGEL TO ALL WHO KNEW YOU!
Your friend

Sister and I worked together at St Marys in Jersey City for a few years. Whenever she was stressed or overworked, which seemed like always, I could always get her to laugh.
She came to my ordination in Bayonne with a number of the other sisters. She will be missed. Go with God my dear friend. Friar Johnpaul Cafiero, OFM (Bro.John)

My thoughts and prayers go out to Sister Jackies family and friends. She has, and always will hold a special place in my heart she was one of many role models I was lucky enough to have in my life to help make me the woman I am today. She always had a smile on her face, she was always there to listen and cheer us on whether it was us singing or at one of our games. May you rest in peace you will be truly missed.
