Sister Jacqueline Carey, 82, formerly Sister Francis Noeline, a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station, NJ.
Sister Jacqueline was born in Roslindale, MA, the daughter of John Francis and Marguerite (McDermott) Carey. She entered the Sisters of Charity on October 1, 1951 and was a member for 64 years.
Sister Jacqueline graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, NJ with a B.A. degree in Mathematics and from Boston College, Chestnut Hill, MA with an M.A. degree in Mathematics. Sister Jacqueline served in the education ministry in New Jersey, Massachusetts and the Virgin Islands. She served as a teacher at St. Teresa School, Summit, NJ; St. Joseph High School, Roxbury, MA; St. Cecilia High School, Englewood, NJ; St. Mary High School, Jersey City; Sts. Peter & Paul High School, US VI and St. Vincent Academy, Newark. She was a Principal at St. Mary High School., Jersey City and at the Academy of the Sacred Heart, Hoboken and Vice-Principal at Caritas Academy, Jersey City. She then served in Patient Relations at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Paterson, NJ and was a volunteer at St. Vincent Nursing Home, Cedar Grove, NJ. She moved to Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station in 2012 where she resided until her death.
She is survived by the Sisters of Charity; her brother John (Kathleen) McDermott, nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her parents; sister, Gloria Hatch; nephew Chuck and niece Marlene.
