Obituary of SISTER JOAN MOORE

Sister Joan Moore, 71, (formerly Sister John Winifred), a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Mountainside Hospital, Montclair, NJ. Sister Joan was born in Newark, NJ, the daughter of John and Winifred (Duffy) Moore. She entered the Sisters of Charity on September 6, 1961 and was a member for 54 years. Sister Joan graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, NJ with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education and from Seton Hall University, South Orange, NJ with an M.A. degree in Early Childhood Education. Sister Joan was an educator in New Jersey. She served as a teacher at St. Mary School, Nutley; Holy Cross School, Harrison; Immaculate Conception School, Darlington; Epiphany School, Cliffside Park and St. Thomas the Apostle School, Bloomfield. Sister Joan taught kindergarten at St. Thomas School for forty years. She is survived by the Sisters of Charity; her sister, Elizabeth (Paul) Biss, Clark, NJ; her brothers Robert (Mary Anne) Moore, Hackettstown, NJ and John (Rachel) Moore, Yuma, AZ; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Sisters of Charity Development Fund, P.O. Box 476, Convent Station, NJ 07961-0476 would be greatly appreciated.
