Obituary of JAMES GERALD SCALA

Please share a memory of JAMES to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
James Gerald Scala, 74, of Parsippany, NJ passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, March 27, 2017. Born and raised in Newark, NJ, James proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany from 1962-1964. He graduated from Newark State College and taught industrial arts at the Newark Public Schools. He later founded Scala and Scala Home Services, with his late brother Gary Scala, which he operated for 40 years. James endured many "bumps in the road" with regard to his health, but always maintained a positive outlook on life and a smile. Preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Mary (nee Florentine) Scala; and his brother, Gary Scala; he is survived by his wife of 48 years, Virginia (nee Kaminskas), the love of his life; his children, Paul Scala and his wife Gina, and Jeffrey Scala and his wife Edna; and four very loved grandchildren, Mikayla, Miabella, Justin, and Valentino. James also leaves two sisters-in-law, Patricia Scala and Mary Jane Cito; and many nieces, nephews, and beloved friends. In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for donations to the N.J. Sharing Network, 691 Central Avenue, New Providence, NJ 07974 (njsharingnetwork.org).
