Steve Harasts, 81, passed away Sunday morning, March 26, 2017 at Morristown Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Jersey City, he had lived in Connecticut before coming to the Pine Brook section of Montville 44 years ago. He earned a full scholarship to Steven's Institute of Technology from which he subsequently graduated with a Bachelors Degree in mechanical Engineering. Mr. Harasts had worked on the New York Stock Exchange and as a Senior Vice President with CitiBank. He also held many other roles before his retirement. He invented "Steveology" and he had many students. Steve was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Preceded in death by his wife, Gloria M. (nee Riccioli) last year; and his daughter, Dineen Picerno in 2009; he is survived by his children, Angelo Harasts and his wife Marbie of Pine Brook, and Nicole Sapp and her husband David of Augusta; his son-in-law, Michael Picerno of Paramus; six grandchildren, Amanda, Cassandra, and Katrina Harasts and Tyler, Autumn, and Hunter Sapp; and many nieces and nephews.
