Obituary of CHARLES CHUCK A. LONGO

Charles A. " Chuck" Longo passed away Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017 at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ following a valiant year-long battle with thyroid cancer. He was 78. Born in Newark, NJ, he was raised in East Orange, NJ and lived in Caldwell, NJ for 30 years before moving to Mount Arlington, NJ 20 years ago. He served in the United States Army Reserves during the 1960's. Mr. Longo was a police officer for the town of North Caldwell for 33 years before retiring as a Sergeant in 2001. He had also previously worked for the United Parcel Service and was the owner and operator of E-Z Rider Limo Service. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Angelo and Margaret (Carlucci) Longo; his step-mother, Ann Longo; a brother, Vincent Longo; a step-brother, Samuel Cerrato; and his daughter-in-law, Gina Longo. Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Jeanne M. (nee Plavier); three children, Todd Longo of Parsippany, NJ, Jill Boeckel and her husband Mark of Mount Arlington, NJ, and Melissa Nick and her husband Gregory of Lake Hiawatha, NJ; two step-children, Kelly Romeo and her husband Kenneth of Hopatcong, NJ and Brian Desmond and his companion Renee of Flanders, NJ; three siblings, Donald Longo and his wife Gerry of Chester, NJ, Albert Longo and his wife Nancy of Rockaway, NJ, and Lynda Davis of Camden, DE; a step-sister, Katherine Stella of Belmar, NJ; his former wife, Joyce Longo of Caldwell, NJ; his in-laws, Lenore Longo, Maureen McHale, Joan Royer (Ken), and Valli Cushman (Craig); five grandchildren, Todd Longo, Jack Longo, Mathew Kincaid, Dan Striziver, and Nicole Desmond; a great-granddaughter, Ryleigh Torres; many nieces, nephews, and special friends; and his companion "Buddy."
