Obituary of NICHOLAS MARINO

Please share a memory of NICHOLAS to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Nicholas Marino passed away Monday evening, November 5, 2018 at Cedar Crest Village in Pompton Plains. He was 95. Mr. Marino grew up and attended school in Newark, New Jersey. Like many of his generation, he was forced to leave school to help his family during the Depression. When the United States entered World War II, Nick joined the United States Coast Guard. After the war, Nick joined the International Typographical Union and worked for both the New York Times and the Newark News. Nick was a devoted New York Jets fan and held season tickets for the games for many years. Nick was fond of dancing, particularly the jitterbug. After the war he and his friends attended dances in the central New Jersey region. It was at one of these dances in Perth Amboy he met Irene Havrilla, who later became his wife. Irene died in 1970. They were married for 22 years. Nick is survived by his children: Nicholas (Susan) Marino and Irene (Michael) Cummins, his grandchildren: Carla Cummins (Thomas) Tuite, Alexis Marino and Nicole Marino, and his great grandchildren: Ben, Alex, and Evelyn Tuite
