Obituary of CONGETTA ETTA NAPPI
Please share a memory of CONGETTA to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Congetta Nappi, affectionately known to all as Etta, passed away Tuesday July 16, 2019 at Morristown Hospital. She was 64 years old.
Etta was born and raised in the Vailsburg neighborhood of Newark and graduated from Vailsburg High School. She briefly lived in Summit before settling in Parsippany.
Etta worked as an insurance adjuster for Royal Insurance Company for some time. She also worked in medical billing and as an office manager for a doctor's office and then as the Admissions Administrator for Wayne General Hospital.
Etta's talent and passion for cooking lead her to start her own catering business called Ettibles, preparing gourmet foods for every type of event from private parties to the opening night of the New Jersey State Opera.
For Etta, her most important and meaningful work was done while employed as the Veteran Liaison for Vitas Innovative Hospice. She loved "her vets" and worked tirelessly to honor their service and help them obtain the benefits they so richly deserve. Her efforts earned her local, regional, and national recognition in the industry. This was something she was most proud of, helping our Vets.
Etta also found time in her busy life to volunteer at the Bloomfield Animal Shelter and to minister to people as a Deacon at Forest Hill Presbyterian Church.
On July 24, 2014, Etta married her soulmate Mary on the same beautiful beach in Provincetown, MA on which they became engaged. True to form, Etta planned a wonderful "I Do Barbecue" reception back in New Jersey to celebrate, which is still the talk of those who attended.
What Etta loved the most was to be with her family and friends and helping others. She was well known for her wonderful food, fabulous parties, and her kind and generous heart.
She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
Etta was preceded in death by her parents, Vito & Katherine.
She is survived by her loving wife, Mary Wallace; her sister Jean Acosta and her husband, Carl of Belvidere, NJ; her nephew and God son, Vito Acosta of Belvidere, NJ; her niece, CarlaJean LaFond and her husband, Anthony of Long Valley, NJ; her sister, Josephine Vanderhoof of Garner, NC; her stepdaughter Ann Marie DeLorenzo of Florham Park, NJ as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and
friends whom she loved dearly.
