It's been many years since any of my family members have seen or heard of Sister Margie, though we spoke of her and Neil from time to time. She lived down the street from us on Burnside Street in Orange and we lived in a cold water flat on the corner of Burnside and Washington. We all remember her and her brother Neil as good, friendly kids, and their parents were very nice. The Brennans lived next door to the Ward family, of which there were nine children. Joseph, Eddie, Patrick, Dorothy, and June have passed on. The neighborhood was working class......people were poor, but good folk. The Christiensen family lived a few doors away.....both Stanley and Arnold have passed on, Elderly Maggie Shillou lived just across the street, and Good the florist had his nursery and green house on Burnside St.
From time to time we Cowan's have thought of the old neighbors and wondered how they had fared in this life. In reading her obituary, Sister Marge has distinguished herself as a leader in education and a guiding light for disadvantaged kids. What a wonderful example she has set by her loving guidance, her discipline, responsibility, and honor. She is now at eternal peace with the Lord she has so unfailingly served all of her life.
The Cowan family.....Peggy, Richard, William and James. Jean has passed on.
