Obituary of SISTER MARGUERITE BRENNAN

Sister Marguerite Brennan, 81, (formerly Sister Mary Bernice), a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died August 13, 2019, at Saint Joseph's Healthcare and Rehab Center, Cedar Grove, NJ. Sister Marguerite was born in Orange, NJ, the daughter of Cornelius (Neil) and Marguerite (Schiefer) Brennan. She entered the Sisters of Charity on March 6, 1955 and was a member for 64 years. Sister Marguerite graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, New Jersey with a B.A. degree in Social Studies and from Seton Hall University, South Orange NJ with a M.Ed degree in Education. Sister Marguerite was an Educator in New Jersey, New York and Virginia as well as the Virgin Islands. She served as a teacher at Sacred Heart School, Jersey City; Epiphany School, Cliffside Park; All Saints School, Jersey City; Parochial Schools, Jersey City (Title 1) and Sts. Peter & Paul School, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. She was Pastoral Assistant in St. Patrick Parish, Frederiksted, St. Croix, Virgin Islands. She was Director of Religious Education in the Diocese of Syracuse, Syracuse, NY; Pastoral Assistant at St. John the Evangelist, Waynesboro, VA, Vice President of Mission at Bon Secours St. Mary Hospital, Norton, VA, Mission Consultant at Mountain View Medical Center, Norton, VA and Director of Seton Associates at Convent Station, NJ. In 2010, she became Sacristan at Holy Family Chapel, Convent Station. She moved to Saint Joseph's Healthcare & Rehab Center in 2017 where she resided until her death. She is survived by the Sisters of Charity; her sister and brother-in-law, Bernice and Michael Mulvihill; her beloved nieces and nephew and grandnephews and grandnieces. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother Neil Brennan. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Sisters of Charity Development Fund, P.O.
