DJ was my Geometry teacher at St. Pat's. She, Sister Michael Patricia (Latin) and Sister Ignatia Clare (English and homeroom) were three of the most influential people in my life.
DJ was a force of nature.

Sister Dorothy and Father Muezen were like second parents to me. They are now in heaven with my parents. The pictures I attached below were taken after the burial of my Mom in Linden's Rosehill Cemetery in August 2011.. God Bless You Sister and I know you are looking down from above on your Patricians whose lives you touched. I will always remember you and pray for you.

Sr. Dorothy, (or DJ, as some students called her) was my mentor at St; Pat's and then through her principal years. She was a delight to visit, personally and via mail in Elizabeth and the Villa years. Always joyful & caring! She influenced lives of her many students through today. Thank God for her. I know she is in heaven. PEACE, Phyllis Koczela Wolfe, Class of 63

I live in Florham Park and when DJ celebrated her 95th birthday I was made aware that she was living at the Villa. I started visiting her a few times a year and shared many stories with her. She also kept me up on other students, their accomplishments and deaths. It was like time stood still. She still was the same nun I had as my 9th grade homeroom teacher. Amazing that she remembered that I always had a very long thumbnail b/c I heard that one of the beauty companies would give you money for an inch long nail for their research. Never made it though. The day she passed I had mailed a little note to her telling her my family was alright and hoped she was too. Funny how I thought of her that day. I will miss my visits with her but have no regrets as we told each other that we loved each other at the end of every visit.

Sister Dorothy was my Grade 4 and 5 teacher at Sacred Heart Cathedral School Newark.
She was an excellent teacher but most of all she was an inspiration to me and guided me to becoming a devout Catholic. Everyone loved her. She was like a member of the family.
Whenever I went by the Villa I would pray for her and remember all of the great days at Sacred Heart.
On a side note: She was the assignor for the Parish Alter Boys and the Cathedral was going to open in 1954 and I was selected to serve at the Mass. I will never forget that day.
God Bless You Always. RIP

My sincerest condolences to the family of Sister Dorothy and to the Sisters of Charity. Sister was an inspiration as my math teacher at St. Patrick's High School and later was a great friend when she became principal. Saw her often when I was on the school's board of trustees. Also, I believe Sister was a good friend of my great aunts who were Sisters of Charity--Sister Mary Agatha Quinn and Sister Marie Elise Quinn.
