Oh Jean where do i start.I've known you for 59 years ..since i was 5 years old.Emelia and I went to Our Lady of Sorrows grammar school and became friends .You were always so nice to me.I remember you and Joe taking me and Emy shopping to Alexanders , going by Ida and Franzls restaurant, spending time on the boat in Ortley with Rose and Joe..we did crabbing and used to catch garbage pails filled with blow fish. Emy and I didn't eat the fish ..we just had great times on the boat.I remembet sitting on the porch with Emys grandma and aunt Rose and your friend Leah..and you were having peaches and Gallo red wine.Emy and I weren't old enough to have that but i think we had a taste anyway.I remember when Emy got hercears pierced on the porch with a big needle and cork behind the ear..Emy was always a brave girl...me i was a chicken..Well after grammar school .Emy and i went to Pope Pius..that was down the street from where you worked at the bank...You sometimes drove us to school and sometimes we took the bus home.I remember Emy and I going to see you in the bank.You were the head teller a very big responsible job and i remember us walking in and you coming out and telling everyone this is my daughter Emeli and her friend Rosemary. You were always so proud of Emy ..You always dressed so beautiful...always in style and your hair was always done up so beautiful and to keep it nice you always put toilet paper on it.While in high school Emy met Mike and years later they got married.I remember how happy you were when they got married and what a beautiful wedding they had.You were dressed so beautiful smiling all the time And Joe.i remember being so proud of his daughter walking her down the aisle.I remember when your first granddaughter Danielle Marie was born...You were so happy ..couldnt wipe the smile off your face...and then number 2 grandaughter Michelle Leigh...i remember you called me at work about 10 am and was crying tears of joy and said oh roe we have another little girl ..her name is Michelle...and then a few years later granddaughter number 3 Kristin Nicole...i remember you Joe Danielle and Michelle going to the hospital to see her.She was so beautiful and how we were so happy. I am so happy that i was with Emy and Mike and the girls and their family for your 90 th birthday. So blessed you were to be that age and hold your great grand children Kayla and Joseph..Well you have another Great grand daughter Katerina...she is beautiful and has the same look when Kristin was born.I ll tell her what a nice great grandma you are..what a great cook..always dressed so pretty.. and knitted and sewed and enjoyed life.I thank for being there for me when my mom and dad passed away. I thank you Jean for sharing 59 years of my life...for giving me my sister Emelia your daughter...for making me part of your family for so many happy memories..Now that your work is done on earth may you rest in peace in God's land..find you relatives there and watch over Emy and Mike and their families...and me too.Say hi to my mom and dad..Buddy and Helen...and Shotsy too.I love you Jean xxoo Rosemary (Roe)

My aunt Jean... So beautiful and sweet... One of the most generous persons I have ever met in my life. If she was able to give you the moon, she would have done it. I will never forget those wonderful moments we spent together in 2000, when I came back in the States after 30 years. I will always keep you in my heart my beautiful aunt Jean and pray for you. Please do the same for me and my family that I have in Italy and in the United States. Now I only hope that you can rest in peace, see again your mother and father, brothers and sisters. Say hello and hug them all on my part.

Although I always called her "Mrs Aloi," Jean was like my mother from the years my parents died until I moved away to Pittsburgh; these were the very difficult years when I was in medical school and residency and I needed family the most. I always felt like just another son of hers---she invited me to every family gathering, every Sunday dinner, every holiday! She made me more more "Italian" than my biologic Italian family ever did and filled me up with deluxe Italian cuisine at every meal! Jean was always kind and happy and I never heard a negative word---that is why she probably lived to be 90 and have great grandchildren. Memories of her warmth keep flooding back to me.
