Sr Miriam was my kindergarten teacher in 1956 at St Mary's in Nutley. At age 68 I still have very fond memories of her. I believe she also taught several of my younger siblings. RIP Sister Miriam.

Sister Miriam's twin Sister Margaret taught my younger siblings at St. Michael's School. When I would visit another Sister from St. Michael's who lived at St Anne's Villa, I would see both the twins across the hall. After Sister Margaret had experienced a stroke, Sister Miriam was devoted to her twin Margaret, visiting her at her bedside. She remained her constant companion. An earlier time when the sisters were healthy, I was attending a Jubilee and the twins were "joined at the hip." I couldn't tell the identical twin sister Sisters apart even though I knew their separate stories. I first met Sister Miriam at a parishioner's wake sometime in the past twenty years; she was still driving. She shared a story with me of her first assignment at St. Teresa's School in Summit. She loved the children and their families there. One time, after a snowfall, Sister spoke with one of the mothers saying that the children seemed to enjoy riding on their sleds. She too would love to go down the snowy hill on a sled. The mother promised she would slip a sled under the fence so she too could have some fun. Well, Sister Miriam did indeed go for a sled ride in the snow, dressed in her complete habit and long black woolen coat. I didn't ask her what her "Superior" thought, but my thoughts were this: Sister Miriam knew how to enjoy life! And what a life she lived: teaching, loving, caring, a charitable woman who lived up to the name of a Sister of Charity for so many years.
Love to her family and her Sisters of Charity as you remember her part in your lives.

Sister Miriam was as kind and beautiful as they come. She taught me in second grade. I'm 50 years old now and still have the gift she gave me for my first communion. At "show and tell" one day, I brought in a record and taught the class how to "do the hustle". Sister Miriam joined right in. She made a lasting impact on my life. God Bless her.
