Sister Miriam Patrice Kane, 103, a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died April 30, 2020 at The Villa at Florham Park, Florham Park, NJ.
Sister Miriam Patrice Kane was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, the daughter of Patrick and Mary (McShane) Kane. She entered the Sisters of Charity on September 8, 1935 and was a member for 84 years.
She graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, New Jersey with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education. Sister Miriam Patrice served in the education ministry in New Jersey for 78 years. Sister Miriam Patrice was a gifted teacher of young children; she loved them all. Sister taught Kindergarten for 26 years. Sister Miriam Patrice served as a teacher at St. Teresa School, Summit; St. Mary School, Nutley; Holy Name of Jesus School, East Orange; and Sacred Heart School, Bloomfield. When Sister Miriam Patrice retired from teaching in 1998, she continued her education ministry at Sacred Heart School ss a volunteer. Sister Miriam Patrice moved to Caritas Retirement Community in Jersey City in 2005 and retired to The Villa in 2008.
Sister Miriam Patrice was predeceased by seven siblings; her twin sister, Sister Margaret Kane, her sisters Catherine Byrne and Alice Moran, her brothers Joseph, James, Francis and Thomas as well as her nieces Kathleen, Peggy and Susan and nephews John, Peter and Joseph.
Sister Miriam Patrice is survived by the Sisters of Charity, many devoted nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grand nieces and great-grand nephews.
