Obituary of SISTER PATRICIA FLYNN

Sister Patricia Flynn, 91, formerly Sister Therese Josephine, a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died May 1, 2020 at The Villa at Florham Park, Florham Park, NJ. Sister Patricia was born in Haverhill, Massachusetts, the daughter of Milton and Norma (Rosch) Flynn. She entered the Sisters of Charity on October 1, 1951 and was a member for 68 years. Sister Patricia graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, New Jersey with a B.A. degree in English and from The Catholic University of America with an MFA degree in Fine Arts- Graphics. Sister Patricia was an Educator in New Jersey. She served as a teacher at Our Lady of Sorrows School, South Orange; Mother Seton Regional High School, Clark; Academy of the Sacred Heart, Hoboken and East Orange Catholic High School, East Orange. While at the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, from 1982-2010, Sister Patricia was an Art Instructor, Assistant Director of Weekend College, Academic Advisor to Adult Undergraduates, and part-time Office Assistant. She retired to Saint Elizabeth Convent, Convent Station in 2011. She moved to The Villa at Florham Park in February 2017. She is survived by the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, her cousins Beth and Jack, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews in addition to great grandnephews and a great grandniece. Sister Patricia will long be remembered by her dear friend Ruth Overholser as well as many students and friends. Sister Patricia was a wonderful teacher loved by her students. Her artistic gifts and talents were shared by many as she would instantly create a prayer card, wedding invitation, or jubilee invitation. She gifted many people with her beautiful fine lettering penned in calligraphy. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Sisters of Charity Development Fund, P.O. Box 476, Convent Station, NJ 07961-0476 would be greatly appreciated. IN THE INTEREST OF PUBLIC HEALTH, ALL SERVICES AND INTERMENT AT HOLY FAMILY CEMETERY, FLORHAM PARK WILL BE PRIVATE. A MEMORIAL MASS WILL BE CELEBRATED IN THE FUTURE. PLEASE KEEP THE SISTERS OF CHARITY AND THE FAMILY IN YOUR PRAYERS.
