Sister Mary Susan Boyle, 91, a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died Thursday, May 7, 2020 at The Villa at Florham Park, Florham Park, NJ.
Sister Mary Susan was born in Newark, New Jersey, the daughter of John and Susan (Kenny) Boyle. She entered the Sisters of Charity on October 1, 1950 and was a member for 69 years.
Sister Mary Susan served as a Supervisor of the Domestic Workers and Operation of the Dining Room both at St. Vincent's Hospital, Montclair and Seton Hall Convent in South Orange. She was a Nurse's Aide in Mount Saint Andrew Villa, Paramus and a Circle Mother in Saint Mary Orphanage, Newark. Sister Mary Susan served as an Assistant to the League Director, in the Sister Miriam Teresa League House, Convent Station. While at Convent Station, she was the Assistant Sacristan at the Holy Family Chapel, Convent Station. She retired to the Villa in 2002.
She is survived by the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, family and friends. Her niece Kathleen visited her every week. In addition, there are many nieces and nephews as well as grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.
Sister Mary Susan will be remembered as a quiet and warm woman whose heart radiated kindness. In the words of one of her nieces, "What always struck me was how, in the most confined circumstances this dear and simple woman radiated boundless charity."
