Sister John Margaret was born in Orange, New Jersey, the daughter of John A. and Margaret (Shine) Harrington. She entered the Sisters of Charity on March 3, 1955 and was a member for 65 years.
Sister John Margaret graduated from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing, Paterson, New Jersey with a Nursing Diploma. Sister John served in the health ministry in New Jersey. She served as a nurse at St. Mary's Hospital, Passaic; All Soul's Hospital, Morristown; St. Anne Villa, Convent Station; and St. Vincent Hospital, Montclair. She was a Staff Nurse, Nurses PRN, Montclair and a Nurse Coordinator at Adult Day Care Center, Paterson. She retired to Our Lady of Lourdes Convent, West Orange in 2001. In April 2020, Sister John moved to St. Joseph's in Cedar Grove.
As a nurse, Sister John extended her care and compassion to many people over the years. During her years of committed service, Sister John depended on the Eucharist to strengthen her in all of life's challenges.
She is survived by the Sisters of Charity; her niece Mindy Julian and members of the Perrine and Carpenter Families, who have such wonderful memories of Aunt Connie. Sister John was predeceased by her brother John Harrington and her sisters Betty Julian and May Harrington.
