Obituary of MARIE C. SCHMID

Mrs. Marie C. Schmid (nee McDonough) died Monday morning, March 10, 2008 at Morristown Memorial Hospital. She was 68. Born in Glen Ridge, she was raised in Bloomfield and had lived in the Lake Hiawatha section of Parsippany for 45 years before moving to Hillsborugh six months ago. Mrs. Schmid was a 1957 graduate of Mount St. Dominic Academy in Caldwell, and earned her degree in nursing from St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing, Paterson in 1960. A registered nurse, she had worked with St. Joseph's Hospital in Paterson for 41 years before retiring in 2001. Mrs. Schmid was a longtime member of St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Parsippany where she was active in the Rosary Society and had served as a CCD instructor and principal. She was an avid fan of the NY Yankees, the NY Giants, and the Duke Basketball program. She also enjoyed traveling in her retirement. Survivors include her husband of 46 years, John, "Gene" Schmid; two daughters, Noreen Jones and her husband Kevin of Rockaway and Patty Schmid of Hillsborough; two sons, John of Rockaway and Kevin and his wife Anne of Mount Arlington; a brother, Theodore McDonough and his wife Dorothy of Mahwah; her two beloved granddaughters Katie and Megan; her brother-in-law, Frank Schmid and his wife Maureen of Toms River; and six nephews.
