Dear Lili, Gigi, Robert, Alex and Spencer, I know this is the saddest time for you all. I would hope that your pain be eased by remembering the happy times. My most vivid memories are the Elmtree days: Al's trying to make me feel like a super star tennis player on the court whenever I missed a shot, his taking over as barbecue chef, serious as could be, making sure everyone was eating, and the fun and laughter we shared as jokes were told. I shall miss this man but I shall remember the wonderful person he was.

I was so saddened to hear of Al's passing so suddenly. He was a delightful, generous, considerate man and I have only warm memories of spending time with him and both of you celebrating eventful moments in your lives and those of his granchildren.
Thinking of all of you as you remember Al and celebrate his life together. Thank you for sharing him with me all these years. Love, Joan

Mrs. Schmid and Robert,
I wish to offer my most sincere condolences on the passing of your Husband, Dad and friend. He was a great man who I remember very fondly. One time on a cub scouts trip to West Point we were walking the halls and seeing pictures of German Generals which he exclaimed there is my old General. I can still remember the looks on all the kids faces....priceless. Take care of yourselves, I wish you the best. Its been a long time but you will always be in my heart. God bless.
