Obituary of ALFONS M. SCHMID

Mr. Alfons M. Schmid died suddenly Thursday morning, May 15, 2008 at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville. He was 81.
Born in Schelldorf, Germany, he immigrated to the United States in 1952 settling in East Orange. He had lived in Glen Ridge for 20 years before moving to Mountain Lakes 17 years ago.
Mr. Schmid earned his BS in engineering from the Newark College of Engineering in 1958.
He had worked as a mechanical engineer with the Bobst Group of Roseland for 25 years before retiring in 1988.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Lili (Engelbrecht) Schmid; a son, Robert Schmid of Vienna, Virginia and two grandchildren, Alexandra and Spencer Schmid.
In accordance with Al's wishes, all services and cremation will be held privately.
