Loretta "Lou" Chiongbian Villacin of Montville, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2010, surrounded by her husband and daughters.
Lou was born in Cebu City, Philippines, the oldest of six children. With an eye toward adventure, Lou moved to New York City at the age of 20, where she attended New York University and met her future husband Aquiles Villacin. They married on March 4, 1967, creating their own adventure together for the next forty-three years with their children along for the ride.
Lou worked for the United Nations in the Press Corps for thirty years, allowing her to indulge her love of travel. Through the U.N., Lou traveled to, among several other places, Nairobi, Vienna, Beijing, Rio De Janeiro, Paris, and Cairo. In addition to travel, Lou was known for her love of theatre - from local community productions to the more elaborate productions of Broadway.
She was also a member of Saint Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church for over 30 years, where she also served on the Perpetual Adoration Ministry.
Lou is survived by her beloved husband, Aquiles; her three daughters, Deanna Testa, Aileen Stocks, and Valerie Villacin; her four remaining siblings, Doris Oliva, Edgar Chiongbian, Alexander Chiongbian Jr., and Nonoy Chiongbian; and her four grandchildren, Ariell, Hayley, Kiera, and Lucas.
