Dear Kevin, Patty, Noreen and John,
We send our deepest condolences - and we are so sorry we haven't been able to be with you in person to share them. The article in The Daily Record is such a wonderful description of your father's accomplishments -- he inspired and encouraged so many people in his and work and family. We are so glad to have known him. Oh, we'll miss Megan and Katie's Grampy.
Love,
Carolyn, Jonathan and Sylvia

Uncle Gene, My Godfather:
You will be missed very much. We all love you and are truly blessed that you were in our lives. You touched many people. You are an inspiration to everyone you came in contact with.
You helped a great many people. As I thought back on the life you shared with us, I remember when you wrote me a letter of recommendation to get into Rutgers Graduate School of Management. I remember going over to NJIT campus and seeing you at work there.
I am glad you were able to come and visit us on our Schmid Family vacations. We will miss you this year on our vacation in July.
We love you!
Love your Godson Frankie

I only played for Coach Schmid for part of one semester, in the Fall of 1978, as I didn't make the final cut for the NJIT baseball squad, but I remember him well nonetheless. He was a very nice man, and it was a pleasure to have spent the brief time that I did with him. My condolences to his family and friends in their loss, and hope that your happy memories of Coach Schmid will soon supplant your current grief.

Dear Patty and family:
"Coach" was such a good, kind, and loyal friend to my dad and to my brother, Jeffrey for so many years. Funny, smart, strong, and devout, I will always respect him and will never forget him. You have my love and prayers.

Noreen, Patty, John and Kevin,
Our heartfelt condolences to you all. I consider myself so fortunate to have known your Dad for the past 30 years. He was a great man who I know put his priorities in the right order: God, Family, Athletics. He will be missed by all, especially by Katie, so know that she is in our prayers as well.
Love,
Amy, Steve, Billy, Gillian, Riley and Peyton O'Dowd
