Obituary of CYRIL C. CENAC

Please share a memory of CYRIL to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On June 8, 2021, while in his Lake Hiawatha home, and surrounded by his loving family, Cyril Charles Cenac peacefully transitioned from our world. He was 65 years old. Born on the beautiful island of St. Lucia, West Indies, Cyril was a well known native and loved his homeland. Many referred to him affectionately as "Scala" and he seemed to know someone from every part of the island. He always enjoyed being of service to others, and nothing seemed too much for him to do to help someone. In his early years, Cyril enjoyed playing football (soccer), engaging in diverse island activities, ranging from leisure (crab hunting, swimming, sports, social events, etc.) to his efforts in activism and politics to effect change for others. Cyril believed in effective leadership and the power of education to transform lives. For almost 20 years, Cyril was an employee at the St. Lucian National Printery in Castries, where his colleagues described him as joy to work with and be around, always making everyone laugh and feel good. Cyril migrated to the United States in 1986, settling in Brooklyn, NY. He and his family moved to the Lake Hiawatha section of Parsippany Township in 1987. Once in the United States, Mr. Cenac discovered a new career path, and worked with Citibag Co. of Brooklyn, NY, and later relocated with the company in Newark, NJ. Years later, he was an employee for DC Plastics in Bayonne for many years, retiring 16 years ago. He was a member of the Bethel Assembly of God Church in Lake Hiawatha, and grew in faith and his relationship with the Lord over the years. He loved his Bethel family immensely. Cyril is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Jacinta (nee Amorsingh) Cenac; four beloved children, Jonas Marcel and his wife, Shandel , Jodi Wilson and her husband, Dennis, Bianca Cenac and her husband, Damien, and Cyril Cenac Jr. and his wife, Kerry of Cummings, GA.; a brother, Egbert Lansiqout of St. Lucia; three sisters, Jeannie Cenac-Beausoleil (husband Albert Beausoleil), Caroline Moses (husband Kevin Moses), and Annette Collymore (husband Conrad Collymore); and his brother in law Moses Amorsingh. Cyril was a devoted grandfather to his most cherished grandchildren, Nailah and Amaré. Extended family members include his Uncle Mose Leonce, Aunt Julia and Uncle Harris Dominique, Aunt Agnes and Uncle Jim Verhoff. Cyril was a proud uncle to his nephews Olin, Calvin, Courtney and Jared, nieces Cydney, Kalima, Kali and Janelle. His beloved cousins include Michelle, Porsha, Devian, Junior, Derrick, Jene, Eddie, Tesa, Nelma, Livia, Lenny, Lisa, Jonas, Sarah, Jason, Pam,Terry, Veronica Cenac, Andrina, Keith and Andre Gardener, and the Glasgow family. Cyril was an esteemed godfather to Peggy Sayers, Dermin Dormant, Lucius and Terrance Glasgow.
