Obituary of LOUISE HARBESON DRUMM
Please share a memory of LOUISE to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Louise Harbeson Drumm, 82, passed away at sunset on Monday, November 26, 2012 at St.Clare's Hospital in Denville, surrounded by her family. Louise was born and raised in Montville and was a lifelong resident of the Towaco section of the township.
Louise graduated from Montclair State College in 1952 where she received a BA in History, and was president of the World Federalists Club. She went on to teach elementary school at Fort Richardson Army Base, in Anchorage, Alaska (where she would meet her husband of 56 years, Theobold Drumm). She also worked at Camp Marcella for the Blind, and with Easter Seals, an organization to help individuals with disabilities and special needs.
After returning to New Jersey, and raising the first of her ten children to college age, Louise worked as a newspaper "stringer" or local reporter for the suburban Trends/ Boonton Times Bulletin and The Citizen, covering such events as township meetings and police news. Her articles were written for the tidy sum of 50 cents a column inch and a measure of satisfaction.
Louise was a member of the Montville Dutch Reformed Church in Montville, NJ.
She is survived by her husband, Theobold Drumm, her ten children, Matthew Drumm, Elizabeth Drumm, Sarah Woods, Rebecca Davis, Erika Drumm, Adrienne Karon, Josh Drumm, Ben Drumm, Nik Drumm, and Lean Bennett; and eleven grandchildren, Ross, Kaleigh, Catrina, Logan, Alicia, Connor, Riley, Sean, Trey, Liam, and Alina.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Montville Animal Shelter, River, Road, Montville, NJ 07045 would be appreciated.
