Sister Madeline Fahey, 84, (formerly Sister Corrine Elizabeth), a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died Friday, March 4, 2022, at Saint Joseph's Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Cedar Grove, NJ. Sister Madeline was born in Waltham, Massachusetts, the daughter of Simon and Evelyn (Beagan) Fahey. She entered the Sisters of Charity on September 6, 1955, and was a member for 66 years. Sister Madeline graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, New Jersey with a B.A. degree in Mathematics, from The Catholic University of America, Washington, DC with an M.A. degree in Counseling and from William Paterson University, Wayne, NJ with a BSN degree in Nursing. She was an Oncology Certified Nurse and was also certified as a Behind the Wheel Driving Instructor. Sister Madeleine served in the ministries of education and healthcare in New Jersey and New York. She was a teacher at St. Andrew School, Westwood and St. Cecilia Elementary School, Englewood. Sister Madeline taught mathematics at Lincoln Hall School for Boys, Lincolndale, NY. She served as math teacher, Guidance Counselor and Driver Education Teacher at Paramus Catholic High School, Paramus, and as Guidance Counselor at St. Peter High School, New Brunswick. Sister Madeline's healthcare ministry was devoted to caring for Oncology patients at St. Joseph's University Medical Center, Paterson, both in the inpatient unit and in the Outpatient Infusion Center. Sister Madeline was loyal, compassionate, and kind. She was a wonderful mentor to many young nurses beginning their nursing careers. Sister Madeline was pre-deceased by her twin sister Maureen Lapsley, her sister Mary and her brothers Joseph, Thomas, Simon, and Robert. She is survived by the Sisters of Charity, her sisters Mildred Kerrigan and Margaret Hunt, numerous nieces and nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sister Madeline's memory to the Sisters of Charity Development Fund, P.O. Box 476, Convent Station, NJ 07961-0476 would be greatly appreciated.
