SISTER M. NICOLETTA GARGANA, SC Sister M. Nicoletta Gargana, 95, a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died July 10, 2022 at McAuley Hall Health Center, Watchung, NJ. Sister Nicoletta was born in Jersey City, the daughter of John and Mary (Fritchez) Gargana. She entered the Sisters of Charity on March 25, 1946 and was a member for 76 years. She graduated from the College of St. Elizabeth, Convent Station, N.J. with a B.S. degree in Education. Sister Nicoletta was an educator, caregiver and sacristan in New Jersey. She served as teacher in Holy Rosary School, Elizabeth; Sacred Heart School, Rochelle Park; St. Agnes School, Atlantic Highlands; St. Columba School, Newark; St. Michael School, Newark; and St. Peter School, New Brunswick. She was a caregiver and nurse's aide in St. Anne Villa, Convent Station. She then served as Sacristan in Holy Family Chapel, Convent Station. Sister Nicoletta will be remembered for her care as Sacristan at both Holy Family Chapel and Saint Anne Villa. She will also be remembered, with gratitude, for the notes that she wrote to keep in touch with friends and family. She had a card for every occasion and shared her cards with anyone in need. At McAuley Hall, she wheeled around and visited all the sisters. She lived out her belief, "To serve and not to be served." She is survived by the Sisters of Charity, her brother John, nephew John and nieces Donna, Mary and Karen. In addition, Sister Nicoletta had 26 great nieces and nephews. The wake for Sister Nicoletta Gargana will be held in Holy Family Chapel, 2 Convent Road, Convent Station, NJ from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 18, 2022. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. Masks are required in-person. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, Convent Station immediately following the Mass. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of S.J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service, Lake Hiawatha, NJ.
