Obituary of Thomas J.H. Craig, MD

Thomas Joseph Hunt Craig, MD passed away Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2022 at Morristown Medical Center. He was 91.

Born in New York, NY, he was raised in Lynbrook, NY, and had raised his family on Long Island, NY, and Randolph, NJ, where he had moved in 1983.

Dr. Craig had served as a Gunnery Officer on the USS Henley in the United States Navy during the Korean War.

He earned his Bachelor of Science from Notre Dame University in 1952, and subsequently a Medical degree from McGill University in 1959, specializing in psychiatry, where he was also class valedictorian. He was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Society.

Dr. Craig was the proprietor of a private psychiatry practice in Randolph. He had been practicing psychiatry for 57 years preceding his retirement. He was also the medical director of Greystone Hospital in Parsippany from 1979-1990.

Preceded in death by a son, Thomas J. Craig; and two siblings, Charles J. Craig and Robert T. Craig; he is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Ilana Lev-El Craig, two daughters, Ellen E. Craig and Shannon M. Craig, both of Clearwater, FL.; a son, Dr. Steven L. Craig and his wife, Dr. Holly Craig of Haddam, CT., a step-son, Daniel Zudkevitch and his wife, Alyssa Zudkevitch of Wayne, NJ; and five grandchildren, Michael Fromwiller, Dylan Craig, Meghan Craig, Ilena Zudkevitch, and Jacob Zudkevitch.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Friday, Sept. 23, 2:00pm at S.J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service, 60 North Beverwyck Road, Lake Hiawatha (973-335-4700).
