Obituary of Barry Schaeffer

Barry Schaeffer, 90, passed away Friday morning, September 30, 2022 at his Parsippany, NJ home.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Barry had moved with his family to the Lake Hiawatha section of Parsippany as a teenager.

He worked at Transistor Devices Inc. of Randolph for over 25 years before his retirement in 1997. A man of many trades, he could repair anything! He had also previously owned Par-Troy Auto Parts and an outdoor sports store.

Barry was a volunteer with the Parsippany Office of Emergency Management and an avid amateur radio operator. He loved boating, cooking, and spending time in his convertible Mini Cooper.

Survivors include his cherished wife of 66 years, Sheila M. (nee Roesch) Schaeffer; three beloved children, Bruce B. Schaeffer and his wife, Wendy of East Brunswick, NJ, Rochelle S. Schaeffer of Ossining, NY, and Dr. Tammi H. Schaeffer and her wife, Sara of Lambertville, NJ; a dear sister, Della Bramow and his sister and brother-in-law, Estelle and Jay Fine; his loving grandson, Jonathan Schaeffer; and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Funeral Services on Sunday, Oct. 2. 12:00pm at S.J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service, 60 North Beverwyck Road, Lake Hiawatha (973-335-4700). Interment will follow at Beth Israel Memorial Park, Woodbridge.
