Obituary of Bob Blumenthal

Bob Blumenthal passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at Baylor Regional Medical Center in Grapevine, TX., while visiting with family. He was 77.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, Bob was proud to be raised in Elmont, NY. He had lived in Queens, NY before coming to the Lake Hiawatha section of Parsippany in 1973.

Mr. Blumenthal served in the United States Army from July of 1963 to July of 1966. He was stationed in Germany and served as a communications officer. Bob was extremely proud of his military service.

He earned his Bachelor's Degree in June of 1970 from Adelphi University.

Mr. Blumenthal had worked as a fundraiser with the United Jewish Community. He subsequently became a co-owner of Compuprint America with his brother Mark, located in Hackensack and later Saddle Brook, NJ. He retired five years ago.

Bob was actively involved in Parsippany athletics over the years. He touched the lives of countless children as a coach in the Baseball, Soccer and Basketball Programs in the late 70's - and the 80's. He was instrumental with Par-Troy Little League East and had served as the organization's president. He was extremely proud when Parsippany went to the Little League World Series.

Bob also had many interests, He loved playing poker with his friends, he was an avid chess player. Bob was also a very accomplished musician; He started playing the saxophone as a child and continued until he had children. In his later years he started playing golf and could be out there every day of the week.

Mr. Blumenthal and his late wife were also active members of the former Lake Hiawatha Jewish Center of Parsippany and Temple Beth Shalom of Boonton.

His greatest joy in life, however, was the role of father and grandfather. He was also a loyal friend, and had remained close with a group of friends from his old neighborhood in Elmont from kindergarten to the present day.

Preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Natalie Sue (nee Spiegel) this past August 21; Bob is survived by his three beloved sons, Glenn Blumenthal of Lake Hiawatha, NJ, Jonathan Blumenthal and his wife, Eve of Westlake, TX, and David Blumenthal of Ramsey, NJ; his brother, Mark Blumenthal and his wife, Barbara; and his three cherished grandchildren, Paul, Zoe, and Mason Blumenthal.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service, Tuesday, December 6, 2022, 12:00pm at S.J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service, 60 North Beverwyck Rd., Lake Hiawatha. Interment will follow at Cedar Park Cemetery, Paramus.

The Period of Mourning will be observed at Bob's late residence on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 3:00pm to 7:00pm and Wednesday, December 7, 3:00pm to 7:00pm.
