Obituary of Jose R. Uribe

Jose Uribe passed away on Monday, February 13th. He was 68 years old. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He managed to survive as a quadriplegic for the past 27 years due to his fighting spirit, patience, and determination. He had a great sense of humor, curious mind and love of music that he passed on to his kids and grandkids. He had a love of history, science, astronomy, telenovelas, his favorite TV shows, and movies. From a young age he was always able to overcome adversity and achieve things that others thought were impossible. He was the son of a widowed mother with barely a high school education. He graduated at the top of his college class graduating in less than three years and brought his wife and son to the US where he attended Harvard Business School, graduating with honors. He was a pharmaceutical executive at Sandoz (now Novartis) and started his own pharmaceutical company. He was a US patent holder. He is survived by his wife Gloria; three children, Juan, Maria, and Daniel; two daughters-in-law, Lucia and Christina; three grandchildren, Sophia, Max, and Sebastian; and an older brother and sister. We will miss him, but his spirit will remain with us. A Funeral Mass for Jose will be celebrated privately at St. Mary's Abbey at Delbarton, Morristown. Private Cremation will follow. For those so desiring, the family would be grateful for Memorial Gifts to the Christopher Reeve Foundation (http://christopherreeve.org).
