Obituary of David J. Hackling

David James Hackling passed peacefully away Saturday morning, April 15, 2023 at his Lake Hiawatha, NJ home surrounded by family. He was 70 years old.

David was born in Newark, NJ and was raised in Belleville, NJ. He lived in Kearny, NJ before coming to the Lake Hiawatha section of Parsippany, NJ in 1989.

A graduate of Belleville High School, David enjoyed golf, computers, action movies, animals, classic rock, and spending time with his family.

Dave, as most knew him, had recently retired from a long career as a United Parcel Service supervisor and Star Ledger carrier.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ruth (nee Roberts) Hackling. Survivors include his devoted wife of 45 years, Barbara A. (nee Moore); four children, Jason Hackling and his spouse, Mira of Connecticut, Melissa Hackling of Rockaway Township, NJ, Katlyn Hackling and her fiancee, Anthony Udasco of Elkins, WV, and Joe Hackling and his girlfriend, Patty Martinez of Lake Hiawatha, NJ; three siblings, Shirley Hackling of Belleville, NJ, Joseph Hackling of Newark, DE, and Ronald Hackling and his wife, Cathy of Ocala, FL; and his beloved dog, Simba.

Relatives and friends are invited to call Wednesday, April 19, 3-5 and 7-9pm at S.J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service, 60 North Beverwyck Road, Lake Hiawatha. The family will deliver a eulogy at 8:30pm before the end of visitation. Private Cremation will follow on Thursday.
