Elizabeth Gabrielle Selikson (nee Patrick) passed away on July 4, 2023 after a short illness. She was 98 years old. Elizabeth was born in Newark, NJ on October 13, 1924. She lived the first eight years of her life in Newark before her family moved to Youngstown, Ohio where her father was transferred. She graduated from South High School in Youngstown in 1942 and from Youngstown College (now called Youngstown State University) in 1946. It was at Youngstown College that Elizabeth met her future husband, William Selikson. Elizabeth earned a degree in Elementary Education and became a grade school teacher in Ohio. Elizabeth and William married in 1947 and were married for over 65 years. When Elizabeth was around 30, she and William moved to New Jersey. They bought a home in Lake Hiawatha which she continued to live in for about 68 years. Elizabeth taught for a few years in New Jersey before she had children and then stayed home to raise her children. When she was a young child to when she was a young adult, Elizabeth spent her summers down at the Jersey Shore at her grandparents' homes in Silverton and Monmouth Beach. These were some of the happiest days in her life. Elizabeth was a member of the Morris County Retired Teachers and the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Order of the Purple Heart. She is survived by her loving children: Paul Selikson of Lake Hopatcong, Rosalind Eyerman of Lake Parsippany, and Elizabeth Selikson Nowicki of Long Valley and her grandchildren: Daniel Eyerman, Zachary Nowicki, and Amanda Nowicki. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her beloved husband William who died in 2013, her dear son Raoul who died in 2020, and her son-in-law David Nowicki who died in 2016. She is also predeceased by her father Robert Patrick and her mother Blanche Gabrielle Patrick (nee Mahar) and her two younger sisters: Ruth Cable and Gabrielle Morris. Relatives and friends are invited to call Wednesday, July 12, 5-9pm at S.J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service, 60 North Beverwyck Rd., Lake Hiawatha. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, July 13. 10:00am at St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church, Parsippany. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Flowers are welcome.
