Obituary of Mercedes A. Gomez

Mercedes A. Gomez Javier passed away peacefully Friday evening, September 15, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was 86.

Born in the Dominican Republic, Ms. Gomez Javier immigrated to the United States in 1974, settling in New York, NY. She moved to North Bergen, NJ in 1999.

Mercedes had been a home attendant in New York City before retiring in 1999.

Preceded in death by her loving son, Persio Logos, and her daughter, Teonilde Lopez, her parents, Rafael Gomez and Mercedes Javier, and her two brothers, Rafael Gomez Javier and Anibal Lopez; Mercedes is survived by three beloved children, Carmen Josefina Perez and her husband, Pedro of Montville Township, NJ, Frank Reynoso of Tampa, FL, and Alberto Luna and his wife, Tonya of Bemidji, MN; and five dear sisters, Altagracia Gomez de Pena and her husband, Elias Pena, Ana Gomez, Annerys Gomez, and Rosario Gomez all of the Dominican Republic, and Ana Susana of Miramar, FL. She also leaves behind twelve grandchildren, Vielka Rodriguez and her husband Ozzie Rodriguez, Pedro Perez and his wife Lisa Perez, Frankie Reynoso, Anthony Reynoso and his wife Kendal Reynoso, Christopher Reynoso, Travis Reynoso, Vicente Luna, Alberto Luna, Gabriel Luna, Esperanza Luna, Ángel Luna, Gustabo Luna and five great-grandchildren, Parker Rodriguez, Emma Rodriguez, Leah Perez, Luna Reynoso and Adrian Reynoso, as well as her nieces and nephews, to cherish her memory.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation Friday, Sept. 22, 4-7pm at S.J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service, 60 North Beverwyck Road, Lake Hiawatha, NJ. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 23, 10:00am at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, 24 Changebridge Rd, Montville, NJ. Private cremation will follow. Inurnment will be on Friday, Sept. 29, 11:00am at Gate of Heaven Chapel Mausoleum, East Hanover, NJ.
