Sister Elizabeth Scheick, SC Sister Elizabeth Scheick, 77, a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died Monday, September 18, 2023 at Lincoln Park Care Center, Lincoln Park, NJ. Elizabeth was born in Newark, NJ the first child of Theodore and Elizabeth (Confroy) Scheick. She was the oldest of five children. Sister Elizabeth (Bette Ann) was taught by the Sisters of Charity, graduated from East Orange Catholic High School before entering the Sisters of Charity on September 6, 1965 and was a member for 58 years. Sister Elizabeth graduated from the County College of Morris, Randolph, NJ with an AAS degree in Nursing, from Pace Institute, New York, NY with a BSN degree in Nursing and from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ with an MSN degree in Maternal- Child Health Nursing. Sister Elizabeth served in a variety of health ministries in New Jersey. She served as a nursing assistant at Saint Mary's Hospital, Passaic, NJ. She was a delivery room nurse, a staff nurse in intensive care and then a supervisor at the nursery at Saint Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center, Paterson, NJ. She was a coordinator of Pediatric Ambulatory Services at Jersey City Medical Center, Jersey City, NJ and a Public Health Nurse consultant at the New Jersey Department of Health in Trenton. After leaving Trenton, Sister Elizabeth returned to Saint Joseph's Healthcare System in the position of Nurse Care Manager in Community Medicine until retiring from there in 2016. Sister Elizabeth enjoyed a positive relationship with her large family. She enjoyed family gatherings with her siblings and their children, many uncles and aunts- some of whom were Benedictine monks and even an Abbot (Thomas). She enjoyed a fond supportive relationship with her aunt, Sister Theresa Regina Confroy, SC throughout her lifetime. Sister Elizabeth was a faithful Sister of Charity who loved the members of her entrance group and so many other sisters. She cared about her friends and stayed connected to many of her nursing colleagues. Sister Elizabeth was predeceased by a younger sister and her parents. Sister Elizabeth is survived by the Sisters of Charity, her aunt Sister Teresa Regina Conroy SC, a sister and two brothers along with many nieces and nephews. The wake for Sister Elizabeth Scheick will be held at Holy Family Chapel, 2 Convent Road, Convent Station, NJ from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM on Monday, September 25, 2023. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:30 PM. The burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, Convent Station immediately following the Mass. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of S.J.
