Obituary of Richard L Tartell
Richard L. Tartell peacefully passed away on November 3, 2023. He was 74 years old.
Richard was a brief resident of Lake Hiawatha and previously in Lyndhurst for 45 years.
Richard proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1969 - 1971 and was honorably discharged receiving the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star Medal.
Mr. Tartell's career included running maintenance on the buses in Orange, NJ. He was also a trolly car mechanic for Newark City Subway. Then a dock worker for Yellow Freight in Carlstadt for 20 years before retiring in 2007. He was a proud member of the Teamsters.
Richard greatly enjoyed his retirement and, in his leisure, he played guitar and was fond of all kinds of music especially Bob Dylan and the Beatles. He was a car enthusiast and loved his dogs Georgie Girl, Gina, Bridgett, Bijou and Maggie.
Richard was predeceased by his beloved wife Lorraine S. Tartell in 2022. He is survived by his loving daughter Lorraine M. Tartell and her partner Thomas of Wantage, NJ. Adoring brother to brother Patrick Tartell, sister Carol Milano, sister Betty Dries and her husband Dennis, sister Gloria DiDomenico and her husband John, sister Linda Pedicini, brother Tony Tartell, sister Joanne Tartell, sister Darlene Quick, sister Donna DeMasi, and brother Gary Tartell and his wife Joan. He will be deeply missed by many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a great-great niece and a great-great nephew. He was also predeceased by his parents, father Patsy Tartell and mother Lorraine C. Tartell (nee Petrillo), brother Raymond Tartell, and loving friend Ellen A. Sharkey.
A chapel service will be held on Wednesday November 8th from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover, NJ. Interment to follow Funeral Services were entrusted into the care of S. J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service, Lake Hiawatha, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the ASPCA
