Obituary of Georgann C. Novak

Georgann C. Novak (nee Brighindi) passed away peacefully Sunday morning, January 21, 2024 at Chilton Memorial Hospital in Pompton Plains, NJ following an extended illness. She was 76.

Born and raised in Bridgeport, CT., she had lived in Totowa, NJ and Paterson, NJ before coming to the Towaco section of Montville Township in 1981.

Georgann had been the Director of Client Services with Planned Strategies, Inc. of Parsippany, NJ for 16 years before retiring 11 years ago. Previously, she had worked in sales at Yardley of London in Totowa, NJ.

Mrs. Novak was a longtime parishioner of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church in Montville, where she was a member of the Choir and a Catechism teacher. She was also a former member of the Parsippany Rotary Club. In years past, she had also been a Troop Leader with the Girl Scouts in Montville, and had been active in the Parent Teacher Association of the Cedar Hill School in Montville.

Georgann is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, James C. Novak; her loving daughter, Tara Altshul and her husband, Eugene of Pine Brook, NJ; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Mary (nee Ragusa) Brighindi; and her siblings, George Brighindi, Mary Ellen Jenkins, and Rose Marie Ledford.

At the time of her passing, Georgann was excited about becoming a "Nonna" for the first time to her expected grandson, Ben.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024, 2-4 & 7-9pm at S.J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service, 60 North Beverwyck Road, Lake Hiawatha. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 10:00am at St. Pius X R.C. Church, Montville. Private cremation will follow.
