Deborah Ann Markman (nee: Zarcone) passed away on Wednesday evening, April 3rd, 2024 at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville, NJ following a sudden illness. She was 65 years old.
Deborah was born and raised in Nutley, NJ where she grew up with her Mother, Brother, and maternal grandparents. When she got married in 1989 to her loving, supportive husband, she became a "New Yorker" and resided in Middletown, NY. Her marriage to her husband was full of joy, laughter, and dedication for one another. Throughout her life, she worked for and managed several different agencies and companies, such as Samsung and Sharp.
Deborah worked at Jewish Family Service of Orange County in Middletown, NY for 27 years, where she ultimately became a co-director of the agency. At JFS, she was dedicated to connecting her community to the resources and services that they needed to provide support and comfort for those in need. She was proud to empower all people facing challenging times to live with dignity, hope, and strength.
Deborah's love was unwavering for her daughter, and she actively participated in every aspect of her daughter's life. From sewing her daughter costumes and outfits, teaching her daughter family recipes in the kitchen, to running lines and giving stage directions to her daughter to help her prep for various plays/musicals; she was a multifaceted, spectacular, and dedicated mother. Deborah constantly poured her heart and soul into her daughter, who also loved her unconditionally.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 34 years, Gary Scott Markman, her loving daughter, Jessica Rose Markman of Middletown, NY; her mother, Jeanette Zarcone of Florida, NY; a brother, Allan Zarcone and his wife, Claire of Parsippany, NJ; nieces, Marianne, Christina, and Amy, and a nephew, Matthew.
