Obituary of Richard Dayermanjian
Richard Dayermanjian passed away Monday morning, May 13, 2024 at Morristown Memorial Hospital. He was 97.
Born April 23, 1927, in the town of Lyndhurst, NJ, to Melkon and Anna (nee Azadian) Deyermanjian, he had lived in Newark, NJ where he attended East High Junior High School until the grade of Junior.
During World War II he joined the United States Navy at the age of 17. He earned the rank of Pharmacist 3/c and was honorably discharged after the war in 1946. He returned to high school by attending Central High School Night School and received his high school diploma there. He subsequently took courses at Seton Hall and engineering courses through correspondence school.
In 1958 he purchased a lot in the Pine Brook section of Montville Township, NJ, and built his own house and raised his family there. After many years in Pine Brook, Mr. Dayermanjian moved to Boonton, NJ in 2018.
He was Director of engineering for Norwalt Design Co of Randolph, New Jersey, from the 70's to the 90's. He retired in 1997.
Richard was a life member of the Pine Book Fire Department. He served as chief for four years, from 1972 to 1976. He was a life member of the Montville Relief Association and Montville Exempt Association. He was also president of the Montville Exempts for approximately 15 years.
He was also a prize-winning wood carver and belonged to the National Wood Carving Association as well as the North Jersey Wood Carving Club. He was also an active member of the Mt. Lakes YMCA and the Montville Senior Club.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Diane (nee Jaust) Dayermanjian; his three loving children and their spouses, Kathryn Vanderhoof and Ron, Anna L. Dayermanjian, and Richard Dayermanjian Jr. and Mary; a sister, Rose Cumella; two grandchildren Jason and Michelle; and five great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Thursday, May 16, 2024 2-4 & 7-9pm at S.J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service, 60 North Beverwyck Road, Lake Hiawatha, NJ. The Funeral Service will be celebrated on Friday, May 17, 10:00am in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Norther NJ Veteran's Cemetery, Sparta.
