Obituary of Dorothy J. Spinella

Dorothy J. Spinella (nee Zborowski), lovingly known as "Dottie" passed away Sunday, May 12, 2024 at Hampton Bridge Rehabilitation Center in Toms River, NJ. She was 86.

Born in Newark, NJ, she was raised in Belleville, before moving to the Towaco section of Montville Township, NJ in 1962. She had been a full-time resident of Lavallette, NJ since 1992.

A homemaker, Mrs. Spinella was a longtime member of St. Pius X R.C. Church in Montville. While raising her boys, you could always find her petite statute glued to the bleachers happily watching her sons play baseball, basketball, wrestling and football. In her retirement, she still remained an avid football and baseball fan. She loved going to the beach, gardening, working on puzzles, and playing poker and mahjong with her friends. Besides spending time with her beloved family, nothing gave her more joy than boating at sunset on the Barnegat Bay.

She was preceded in death by her dear son, Charles Spinella in 1995, her beloved husband, Charles Spinella in 2001; and her companion, Conrad Fioretti in 2013. Her sister, Marilyn Cunningham, passed away the day after Dottie on May 13, 2024.

Dottie is survived by her loving son, Robert J. Spinella and his wife, Linda of Kinnelon, NJ; and cherished grandchildren, Jake Spinella (and wife, April) of Lafayette, LA, Sara Jean Fink (and husband, Michael) of Boonton, NJ; Charles R. Spinella, and Alexa Spinella of Stanhope, NJ; and her cherished great-grandson, Michael Fink, Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Monday, May 20, 2024, 4:00pm to 8:00pm at S.J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service, 60 North Beverwyck Road, Lake Hiawatha, NJ. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, May 21, 2024, 10:00am at St. Pius X R.C. Church, Montville, NJ. Entombment will follow at Our Lady of the Magnificat R.C. Cemetery, Kinnelon, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
