Obituary of Kathleen Ascensao

Kathleen Ascensao (nee Cunningham) passed away peacefully Sunday morning, June 23, 2024 at Morristown Medical Center. She was 68.

Born in Newark, NJ and raised in Irvington, NJ, she had lived in Berkeley Heights, NJ before moving to Montville, NJ in 1993.

She earned her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in accounting from Fairfield University and Rutgers University, respectively.

Mrs. Ascensao had worked as an accountant with Verizon in Newark for 20 years, retiring in 2002.

A member of St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church in Parsippany, she was also a member of professional accounting associations. An avid NY Giants fan, she and her husband, Jack held season tickets. She also loved to travel, her Irish heritage, bagpipes and spending time with her family, especially her cherished nieces and nephews.

Kathleen is survived by her beloved husband of 30 years, Jack Ascensao, five loving siblings, Eileen Cunningham of Morristown, NJ, Joyce Infante of Warren, NJ, Joan Kormash of Colonia, NJ, John Cunningham III and his wife, Celia of Readington, NJ, and Eugene Cunningham and his wife, Mary of SanDiego, CA, and numerous dear nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm at S.J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service, 60 North Beverwyck Road, Lake Hiawatha, NJ. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, June 27, 2024, 10am at St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church, Parsippany, NJ. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ.
