Obituary of Sonia L. Carmeli

Sonia L. Carmeli (nee Laguer) passed away peacefully Saturday evening, August 3, 2024 surrounded by family. She was 83.

Born and raised in New York, NY, Mrs. Carmeli moved to Parsippany-Troy Hills in 1967.

Mrs. Carmeli had been a real estate agent and assistant manager with Weichert Realtors for over 30 years before retiring.

She was an active member of St. Ann Roman Catholic Church in Parsippany where she had been a choir member, Good Samaritan and soup kitchen volunteer. She had also been a CCD teacher and Girls Scouts leader in her earlier years.

Preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, Rinaldo (Bob) Carmeli in 2009; and her dear sister, Eunice Silvestri; Sonia is survived by her two beloved children, Eric Carmeli and his wife, Colleen of Rockaway, NJ, and Audrey E. Carmeli of Manchester, NJ; and two cherished granddaughters, Jennifer and Amelia Carmeli of Rockaway, NJ.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, 2-4 & 7-9pm at S.J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service, 60 North Beverwyck Road, Lake Hiawatha, NJ. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, 10:00am at St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, Parsippany, NJ. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family would be most grateful for memorial gifts to St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center (https://sthuberts.org) or one's own favorite animal-oriented charity in Sonia's memory.
