Obituary of Mary Ann Spekhart
Mary ann Spekhart (nee Peluso), 86, of Pine Brook, passed away peacefully Monday, August 19,2024 at her home surrounded by family.
Born in Newark to the late Joseph Peluso and Stella Kloss, she grew up in Harrison, NJ before moving to Clifton, NJ where she met her husband James at the Bowlero Bowling Alley. They were married on June 6, 1959 (Anniversary of D-Day) and settled in Pine Brook, NJ over 58 years ago.
Mary ann was a devoted mother to her two children and a beloved grandmother to her three grandchildren. She was a bookkeeper at different points in her life, and a volunteer at St. Pius x School. Her house was always a warm and welcoming place to be. During the summer months, it was known as "Camp Mary" to her grandchildren, where she shared the pleasures of life: swimming, bicycle riding, and pizza picnics. She enjoyed the simple things like parades and fireworks on the 4th of July. She always put her family first, and had a way of making each member feel special. Her strength, kindness, and comical wit will always be remembered by all.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James A. Spekhart; and her four siblings, Joseph Peluso, Samuel Peluso, Henry Peluso, and Theresa Skinner. She is survived by her two loving daughters, Cynthia S. Spekhart of Greenwood Lake, NY and Sandra S. Mattson and her husband, Kenneth of Randolph, NJ; and three grandchildren, Julia, Victoria and James Mattson.
